Staff Highlight - Beck

We’re excited to introduce Beck (they/she), a Clinical Social Worker Candidate with our Community-Based Intensive In-Home Therapy team. Thank you so much, Beck, for your contributing your talents to the DCH team and sharing more about you with us!

When did you start at DCH and what brought you here?

I started at DCH in August 2023 as a member of the In-Home team! I always knew that I wanted to work with youth, and I really appreciated that DCH created a supportive environment for both the kids and for the staff. Although I knew that I wanted to work with the kids, I hadn’t considered the positive work that I could be doing in working with the family as a whole, and so I was excited to explore this realm of therapy.

What does a day in your life at DCH look like?

A typical day at DCH for me looks like a lot of driving! Most of what I’m doing is family therapy sessions in their homes, but I’ll also be calling and meeting with other stakeholders, meeting with the rest of the In-Home team or other clinicians for additional support, and all the paperwork that comes alongside that.

Can you tell us about some highlights of your time at DCH?

I have been so grateful for my In-Home team and the support we all help provide to one another, so I’ve got to say that one of my main highlights has been getting to work alongside these amazing clinicians and build that bond with my team. I also definitely want to highlight the opportunities I’ve gotten to work with the clinicians and staff outside of my team. I’m glad to be in an environment where I can be consistently expanding my own knowledge and learning from the people around me, especially being in a space that encourages that collaboration.

Tell us more about your life outside of work. What do you love doing in Denver?

I love to just explore and see all the different opportunities and experiences Denver has to offer! One of the big things I’ve been doing recently is exploring different coffee shops to try and find the top ones in the area (shoutout to Doppio), but my weekends are usually filled with day trips to other towns, walking around and hanging out in the local parks, spending time with my partner, and working on different creative projects and crafts.

Last one — if you could have coffee with any celebrity, who would it be and why?

I LOVE this question, and my answer changes all the time, but I think right now it would be the director Ari Aster. His movies are so visually interesting, and his themes are fascinating, so I would love to pick his brain about his creative process and ask my many questions about his films that I’ve just been sitting with.
