Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services

Important Dates 

  • COVID safety protocols are reviewed twice weekly – at both the Leadership Meeting (Monday) and the Program Manager’s Meeting (Thursday).

  • Classes at DCH have been in person since March 2021.

  • DCH will review its plan prior to summer programming.

DCH has been in person all year for residential and day treatment students.  There are no remote options unless DCH experiences a COVID spike. 

Social, Emotional, Mental & other Needs

  • Continued individual and family therapy sessions for all students.

  • Families have the option to attend in- person or remotely. 

  • Affective Education one period per day for all students.

Layered Prevention Strategies

CDC Recommendations

  • Promoting Vaccinations -Vaccination clinics for students and staff 3 times since school began.

  • Consistent and Correct Mask Use – Mask wearing is required of all staff and day treatment students.

  • Physical Distancing – Classrooms, Building Transitions and the Cafeteria are set up for social distancing.

  • Screening Testing – Rapid tests are available for staff or students with COVID-like symptoms.

  • Ventilation-Air Purifiers

  • Handwashing / Respiratory Etiquette - Hand Sanitizer in all classrooms and individual supervision outside of the restroom

  • Staying Home when Sick/Getting Tested – required

DCH follows all CDC guidelines as well as guidelines from Denver County. 

How Decisions Are Made Around Preventative Actions

COVID protocols are reviewed by the Leadership Team and the Program Manager’s weekly.

In-Person and/or Remote Options

  • Contact Tracing – all visitors sign in and out of the building at reception, answer screening questions and have their temperatures is taken.

  • Cleaning and Disinfection - classrooms at the end of every day; cafeteria after every meal. 

  • Teachers rotate instead of the students to reduce transitions in the building.
