Events Benefitting Denver Children's Home
Two thousand nine was a year of fun, friends, and festivities - firsts and finals. Krewe de Colorado’s Mardi Gras Ball had one last event, completing ten years of celebrating Mardi Gras and raising money for the kids at Denver Children’s Home. Thank you – from all of us!
The 14
th annual
Mike Betts Memorial Golf Tournament took place on June 8
th at the Glenmoor Country Club. One hundred and twenty golfers hit the green early in the morning and raised over $30,000 for Denver Children’s Home.
Denver Children’s Home’s 7
th Annual Gala came and went in a New York minute, but over 200 guests turned out for a night filled with delectable food, incredible auction packages, and lively entertainment. Sandy Tenenbaum, with Occasions by Sandy, and former DCH Board Members, with KPMG, were honored at the event for their long-time support of DCH. The cafeteria at 1501 Albion Street officially became the Tenenbaum Family Café and employees of KPMG were presented with framed DCH kids’ art. “A Night in New York” raised almost $80,000.
In addition to our on-going annual events, in light of the economic recession, we decided to expand our donor database by outreaching to new audiences. Specifically, we targeted younger generations of donors by tapping into social media and holding events that were more affordable. Over eighty people attended our
Mix & Mingle event at Lavish Lounge, many of whom were new to the community of Denver Children’s Home’s supporters. The event itself raised over $900. Following this success, our plan of action for the years ahead is to increase and expand these events with the help of a volunteer Events Committee. When faced with adversity, Denver Children’s Home perseveres.
Finally, we would like to thank CoreNet Global for supporting us through their 2009 Golf Tournament and Be R.E.A.L. for having us as their beneficiary for their November Laugh Out Loud event, but we also want to express our deep appreciation to everyone who supported or attended an event in any shape, way or form. It is through the support of others that we have been and can be successful.
THANK YOU!
