As in any home with a large family, Denver Children's Home (DCH) has a wide range of needs and a limited budget. Your generous contributions are stretched to provide the maximum benefit for the children – whether it’s heating and lighting the building, or buying new school books, medications or clothing. Denver Children’s Home treats children and their families regardless of their ability to pay.
Everyone can do something to help children. Your contribution, in any form, can improve the life of a child right here in our community. For example:
$.70 a day can help provide clothing for a child for a year.
$2.75 a day can help provide necessary items for each child in a dorm.
$4.00 a day can help provide much-needed school supplies for a classroom of 8 children.
When you help change a child's life, you help change the world. Please contact Shannon Lowe at 720.881.3346 to discuss your philanthropic goals.
As a strong incentive for contributions that promote child care, the State of Colorado began offering a 50% tax credit to businesses and individuals who make a monetary donation in support of child care in 2004. When you designate your generous donations to Denver Children's Home you may claim an income tax credit of 50% of the total contribution through the State of Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit program. Combined with other state and federal itemized tax deductions, the actual net cost of a donation is approximately one third (1/3) of your gift! A great way to maximize your charitable giving!

Many of the children and families at Denver Children's Home cannot even afford basic needs like clothing or personal hygiene products. Some children come to DCH with just the clothing they are wearing. Since government funding only provides a one-time, $86 stipend for clothing over the child's lifetime, Denver Children's Home must turn to the generous support of individuals to help provide clothing for the children and adolescents at Denver Children's Home that have no other financial resources.
Your generous donation of $250 will help Denver Children's Home provide clothing for a year for a child, a child who has no other resources. Specifically, DCH can provide:

While much of each child's day is structured around their treatment and schooling, unstructured personal time in the residential dorms is important to each child's well-being. Like most children, those at Denver Children's Home need time to relax, often reading books, writing, drawing, or playing games and watching movies with their peers. Each dorm is a self-contained unit and the maintenance of each dorm is essential to the happiness and successful treatment of the children. Denver Children's Home has limited funds to properly equip each dorm and therefore turns to individuals and organizations that wish to Adopt a Dorm.
Your generous donation of $1,000 will help Denver Children's Home provide necessary supplies for one of our dorms, and each child in the dorm. Specifically, DCH can provide:

One of the key elements to children's success in the residential treatment programs at Denver Children's Home is participation in the on-site school, which is an integral part of the treatment program and provides a successful and safe academic experience while the children are undergoing treatment. With limited resources for school books, school supplies, and classroom furniture, Denver Children's Home greatly benefits from the support of individuals and organizations who wish to Adopt a Classroom, providing the necessary funding to support ongoing classroom activities.
Your generous donation of $1,000 will help Denver Children's Home provide much-needed school supplies for a classroom of 8 children.

Planned gift contributions to Denver Children's Home (DCH) are used to help ensure continued excellence in our services and programs. Many have found that time spent considering their contributions help them make meaningful gifts while enhancing their personal philanthropic goals. A planned gift can take many forms and provide income tax benefits. Denver Children's Home is happy to work with individuals and families to design a personalized charitable giving plan.
A bequest is often the most realistic way for donors to make a significant contribution to Denver Children's Home. This thoughtful method of gifting can be created as simply as adding a paragraph to a will.
Each year, many of our committed donors support Denver Children's Home with gifts of stock or mutual fund shares, life insurance and retirement plan assets. These gifts enable you to realize tax benefits while giving you the satisfaction of helping our community's first and most effective child trauma center.
If you own appreciated securities (stocks, bonds or mutual funds held by you for more than one year), donating them to DCH may allow you to reduce or avoid more capital gains taxes and receive a federal income tax charitable deduction.
You can also designate our organization as the beneficiary of your securities. Please contact your broker for more information about this simple way to support Denver Children's Home. This type of gift can be especially appealing if you are holding shares that have appreciated significantly in value but yield a low dividend.
Similarly, if you have excess life insurance, you may enjoy tax benefits by designating Denver Children's Home as the beneficiary (primary or secondary) of an existing life insurance policy.
At the time of death, qualified retirement plan assets may be subjected to both estate and deferred income tax, which combined can use up most of the funds. You can designate Denver Children's Home as a tax-free beneficiary of the remainder of your IRA, Keogh, tax-sheltered annuity, qualified pension or profit-sharing plan. A charitable gift of insurance proceeds or the remainder of retirement plan assets is normally deductible from the donor's estate.
Unrestricted gifts to our endowment fund will sustain our core programs and help ensure the organization thrives and continues to serve all who need us. Cash, stock, mutual fund shares, life insurance, real estate or other property may be used to fund endowment gifts.
We invite you to submit a signed Declaration of Intent to inform us of your plans so we can thank you appropriately now. (You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free utility you can get from Adobe, to open the Declaration.)

With a home full of children, there are certain items we always need! Due to limited funding available, Denver Children's Home looks to its supporters to help provide some of the everyday needs of Denver Children's Home, including hygiene, art and dormitory supplies, activities, etc. Our professionals work on an extremely tight budget, and often have very basic needs for the classrooms or the dorms. You can make a difference!
